Rosemary

Common Name: Rosmarinus officinalis

Description: Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis) is a woody, perennial herb with fragrant evergreen needle-like leaves. It is native to the Mediterranean region. It is a member of the mint family Lamiaceae, which also includes many other herbs. The name rosemary has nothing to do with the rose or the name Mary, but derives from the Latin name rosmarinus, which is from "dew" (ros) and "sea" (marinus), or "dew of the sea" — apparently because it is frequently found growing near the sea.

Rudbeckia toto

These are ideal for the front of a border or containers. The fall colors of 'Toto Rustic' are pictured here. There is also a charming 'Toto Lemon' with pastel yellow petals. Description: 'Purple Robe', a mossy saxifrage, is an easy care perennial that looks great in a rock wall crevice or cascading over the top. Although saxifrages are normally thought of for the rock garden, hybrid mossy saxifrages grow well in garden soils with plenty of humus that won't dry out. I grow mine in sandy loam soil, on top of a short rock wall, in partial shade, where it thrives. I surround the plant with rocks to help keep the tufts pushed into a cushion.

Scaevola Top pot Blue

Common Name: Scaevola

Color: Blue

Attributes: Full to Part Shade

Description: Scaevola Blue is an annual in many locations.  It is only Winter hardy to 32 degrees.  But what a show and a color that is very blue with just a hint of violet.  Scaevola Blue Wonder is a prolific bloomer from early Spring through to frost.  New blooms can be encouraged by trimming off the long tendrils.  This Fairy Fan Flower cultivar is an excellent hanging basket plant if it gets regular water.  As a ground cover plant reasonable drainage  is required.  Heat is a plus as long as the plants are irrigated enough, though several root rot problems crop up if there is too much water.  There is still some controversy over patents and synonyms, but from a gardener's perspective, Scaevola Blue Wonder by what ever name is an excellent plant.
